DescriptionThis is a Bausch & Lomb research and photomicrographic DDE binocular compound microscope. It is equipped with a very heavy, elaborate, and versatile stand.
The horseshoe-shaped base supports two arms. It is black. The arms meet where the rack and pinion mounting is for the body tube. The body tube is binocular. (The instrument would have been supplied with a monocular tube as well, but it is missing.) There is revolving quadruple nosepiece. The coarse adjustment on this instrument is by rack and pinion. The fine focus is the patented Bausch & Lomb lever type.
This microscope has a revolving, circular stage with mechanical movements in two directions. Verniers are supplied. The substage is of the "complete form," with a frame moved by rack and pinion vertically. The frame carries an Abbe condenser on a quick changing slide; an iris diaphragm that is rotatable and decenterable and on a swing out mounting; a swing away ring mount for a supplementary lens; and a plano mirror on an arm.
The instrument has four apochromatic objectives:
90x ser. no. CB6209
47.5x ser. no. WM6754,
20x ser. no. WB4604,
10x ser. no. CD 8069
The oculars are pairs of 15X WF and 10X WF.
There is no accompanying case.
A stickers on the foot of the instrument label it as belonging to the Farlow Herbarium, and refer to an instrument repair shop.
