Description:
A reel of magnetic memory tape stored inside a rectangular, transparent grey plastic cartridge. The tape is mounted on a metal spool, one end of which is exposed in the side of the cartridge. The exposed spool has three small holes around the circumference to permit mechanical rotation by a disc drive. A hole in the edge of the cartridge exposes the tape for read and write purposes.

FunctionMagnetic memory tape of this kind is used for the storage and circulation of data, often audio, visual, or computational. Users would insert cartridge into an appropriate drive equipped to rotate the spool, reading the contents of the magnetic memory, or writing data onto the tape.
