Description:
Glass spectrum tube consisting of two larger tubes connected by a thinner capillary tube. Each end contains a sealed electrode in the shape of a long needle which connect outside to small metal hoops at the end of a wire. There is a small closed side tube near each of the ends of the tube that makes a 90 degree turn.

The tube is darkened near both of the electrodes, and also silvered on one of the sides.

FunctionThis tube produces a characteristic light (spectrum) of the gas contained inside (unknown) when its electrodes are connected to a voltage source. Useful for research and calibration in spectroscopy.
