Description:
A black-and-white photograph mounted on a black frame with ample space between the edges of the picture and the frame.

The photograph shows a densely packed collection of scientific instruments standing on three surfaces of different heights (a shelf, a table, and the floor) arranged one after the other. An additional surface on the background to the right holds several stands.

The majority of instruments in the photograph are colored disks of different sizes mounted vertically on stands. (Game: search under Münsterberg in this database and find the instruments that match this image.)

Historical AttributesThis is one of a set of eight photographs ordered by Hugo Münsterberg of his psychological laboratory in Dane Hall, Harvard University, for the Chicago World Fair of 1893 that were included in a pamphlet (see primary sources).

The age of this particular print is unknown.
Curatorial RemarksThe object name is based on the title of the original picture held in the Harvard University Archives.
