Description:
Instruments for measuring and testing the chief physical characteristics of the human body. These four tools were used to measure, for instance, the height standing, the height above chair when sitting and the span of arms. One tool was also used to measure breathing capacity. The scales are finely engraved, in centimeters, the smallest division being the millimeter.
Tied up and rolled up in canvas cloth, these could have been use in the field during an anthropological expedition. This ensemble comes from the Department of Anthropology. Number 253 is stamped on the canvas.
