DescriptionThis collection of cases and accessories belonged to a large Zeiss stand Ic microscope (which was stolen in 1971 from the donor).
The outermost case is a large standing protective leather case with leather straps and brass buckles, nickel-metal corner protectors, and red wool cloth lining. It is designed for traveling.
The leather case contains a standing wooden microscope case. The microscope is missing but almost all of the accessories are there.
A sliding wooden tray contains 5 nickel-plated oculars. Three are numbered: 2, 2, 4. Two (8 and 12) are marked "Compens-Okular."
Another sliding wooden tray contains canisters for 5 objectives: a2, B, C, E, and F. The C objective is missing. The lid of the B canister is also missing. Each objective is signed in a different way. The E objective is marked: "E ohne Deckglas Tubusl. 180 mm."
A wooden box with a sliding lid holds two faux ivory "pillboxes" containing 21 mm diameter micrometer rulings. Each box is marked: "Okular-Netzmikrometer." These are eyepiece micrometers. The box also contains a Zeiss key, metal pointer, spare nickel-plated stage clips, a double nosepiece of damascened nickel and a rotating ribbed ring (to turn the objective), a paint brush, and cardboard test strips.
The microscope case also contains a rotating stage with a divided limb marked 0-360 degrees every 1 degree. The stage is made of hard rubber (or vulcanite).
There are two little lenses on handles and another in a square frame in the case.
The wooden case has no serial number.
The microscope (now missing) and its cases were used in conjunction with a set of lenses (inv. 1997-1-1873) and a bell jar (inv. 1997-1-1931b).
