Description:
This is a Spencer no. 44 laboratory compound microscope. It has a curved arm which extends almost to the heel of the horseshoe-shaped base. Both the arm and the base are blackened and made of cast iron. The monocular body is equipped with an angled eyepiece and a quadruple revolving nosepiece. There is rack and pinion for the coarse focus and a micrometer screw for the fine focus. The focus knobs are chrome-plated.

This microscope has a rectangular Bakelite stage. The substage apparatus consists of a rack focusing condenser mount fitted with a condenser with an iris diaphragm and a slot for filters. The mount also has a slot for a plug-in mirror (not included).
