Description:
This is a Zeiss ASC 18 microscope. It has a brass body that is permanenty attached to a nickel-plated three-objective revolving nosepiece. It has a blackened horse-shoe shaped base and a curved arm. The coarse objective is by rack and pinion located on the top of the arm. The fine focus mechanism utilizes gears and a sector that acts as a lever against the pressure of a coil spring. The fine focus is also located on the top of the arm.
There is a fixed, square brass stage accompanied by an attachment that can make the stage mechanical with x-y motion. The attachment is manufactured by Spencer Lens Co. An Abbe condenser with an iris diaphragm is located beneath the stage. The condenser is held in a sleeve and is adjustable by a screw. Below the condenser is a plane-concave mirror on a swing-out mount.
This microscope is accompanied by a standing wooden case. The case holds three objectives in canisters.
