Description:
The plastic range compensator is drilled out in places in order to alter the extant of depth that the proton beam would penetrate the patient's tumor.

Metal rods are positioned in the face of the range compensator in order to mate it with the brass aperture (2002-1-0029a).

The side is marked in red ink, "LLA / MON 1-14" (twice) and "45 x 1.522." LLA stands for Left Lateral Anterior. A green circular sticker is scotch-taped on the side and reads "DAL / 1/14/2." This refers to the patient and date of treatment. There is a red cross on the side.

The front face is marked, "LLA" and "MON 1-14," referring to the location of the treatment and date.
