Description:
Thin steel surveyor's tape with distances marked on brass plaques, wound around a wooden reel. Coiled around one end of the tape is copper wire, connected in turn to a large metal loop. A piece of twine is tied to the end of the loop. There are multiple small, circular holes in the reel. On top of the reel are a brass loop and a Harvard University plaque.
