Description:
A rectangular mahogany base supports two parts. First, a resonating box mounted on a wood block, which can slide sideways in order to adjust the distance of the hammer from the electromagnet. Two thumb screws hold the box in place. The hammer is fixed on the box and has a round head. Its position vis-à-vis the ivory anvil is also adjustable with a thumb screw. What drives the hammer is the said electromagnet mounted on the vertical wooden block opposite the resonating box. Two electrical connectors provide power to the coil.

As several other acoustical instruments in the collection, this one has an old location number inscribed on an oval paper glued to the side: 21-7-4. There is another old location number stamped on this instrument: 23-22.
