FunctionIn tubes like this, electrons are produced by the heating of a cathode. These are then accelerated by a large voltage and strike the anode opposite producing x-rays. The size and shape of the cathode and target determine the form of the x-ray source. This particular tube has two cathodes and two anodes so one can choose among two different x-ray sources.
