Description:
X-ray tube with only two electrodes in a non-spherical bulb. Focusing (concave) cathode and thin platinum angled target; sparking charcoal regenerator side tube.

FunctionThis is an example of a simple early x-ray tube. The cathode is concave to help focus the electrons on a small area of the angled platinum anticathode, which is the only anode present. The side tube contains a charcoal regenerator to replenish the optimal gas level inside the tube.
