Description:
Rectangular wooden diptych for multiple latitudes, with engraved papers pasted to the leaves. Two copper wire latch hooks.

1a: gazetteer with latitudes of 41 European cities and 11 American cities divided into regions and countries. Names are in English.

1b: a vertical string-gnomon dial for latitude 50°, with hours laid out in an oval. They are marked from VI-XII-VI and divided into quarter-hours. In the upper center there is a scale of latitudes for setting the string gnomon. They run from 34°-56° every 2°.

2a: horizontal string-gnomon dial with three concentric, oval hour scales that surround a central compass box. The scales are for latitudes 45° (unlabeled), 50°, and 55°. The wind rose has 8 points labeled in English. There is an arrow to mark magnetic declination at about 20°W.
