Description:
A balance scale, in grey and silver metal, known as a "ratio scale" with a flat sample pan on which materials to be weighed can be placed directly, or which can hold a metal scoop on a stand. The pan, on one end of a balance arm, is connected by a wire to a second, smaller arm which can hold one or two smaller scoops hung from hooks or a weight on a hook. The fan-shaped display, behind a glass window, has a moving pointer which indicates the ratio of weight between weights on the two arms.

The base of the scale is an oval-shaped pedestal, which supports the long balance arm on one end and the display/readout/smaller balance arm assembly on the other.
