Description:
The Zeiss microscope (1084a) is accompanied by a parts box [1084b] marked with the serial number 9950 which matches that on the instrument and mahogany instrument case. It has nickel-plated hinges and latch hooks. It is made of mahogany and is stored in a slot in the instrument case.

The box currently holds the case key, cylinder-diaphragm slide, the pointer for the fine focus dial, a blue filter, and some miscellaneous hardware and parts of the case that need to be reglued.

Historical AttributesThis microscope was owned by Dr. Rupert Norton and likely came to the Harvard Medical School after his death in 1914.
Curatorial RemarksThe former inventory number at medical school was T.21. Dr. Lewis did not catalogue it but retained it as a loan for classroom work.
