1045d is a Tolles workshop pattern or demonstration model.

This is a brass section of body tube with a dummy objective showing the bayonet objective mount.

An old tag reads: "Method of connecting the objective to the microscope about fifty years ago." It is signed by Charles X. Dalton and dated 1 March 1901. The reverse of the tag describes the components in more detail.
