1045f is a Tolles workshop pattern or demonstration model.

It is an example of an adaptor sleeve for a Tolles solid eyepiece. It is a brass sleeve in which the interior diameter changes slightly.

A tag reads, "Sleeve serving as adapter for Tolles solid eyepiece exhibited separately in relation with a French copy. The Tolles is a high power in brass mounted throughout. -over- The line of thickening within this tube prevents the eyepiece from entering quite its full length - yet very nearly -."
