Historical AttributesJohn Jacob Bausch received a patent for his Excelsior pocket and dissecting microscope in June 1874. Bausch and Lomb advertised it as a portable microscope for entomological and botanical work. It was the first production microscope of Bausch & Lomb of Rochester, New York.
This example has serial number 2, and is one of the first made.
