DescriptionThe ensemble is mounted on a black metallic base and covered by a removable glass casing with black-metallic framing. Two GE Selsyn bidirectional motors are mounted on small pilars and linked via an intricate system of rods to two mechanical styluses which move horizontally: one meant to record wind direction; the other wind velocity.
GE Selsyn Motors: Model No 2JD55J1; Serial 5293683 and 52993785. A clock mechanism is used to move the recording paper (three inches per hour). Clock No. 40849; CLK ELEM Nooo 41754. Two rolls of recording papers, one spare, are included. The recording paper is separated in two parts to accomodate the two styluses. It was made by Bentix Aviation Corporation, Friez Instrument Division, Baltimore, MD., USA Chart No. 2040.
A number of tags are found under the base. They are used to identify the various electrical wires. Three pieces of recording paper are also tucked inside the case. They bare the date 27 January 1954. One is a small role of recording paper that was not inscribed by this instrument. The maker of the paper is The Esterline-Angus Co. Inc. Indianapolis, Ind., U.S.A. Chart No. 4332X. A small yellow storing coupon from Harvard for a bicycle is dated 7 June 1956.
