Description:
Five reed pipe resonators and five reed pipe boots, used for acoustics demonstration or experimentation. All of the reed-resonators and four of the boots are stamped with a note name (reed-resonators: G, G, B, B, C; boots: C, G, A, A). Some but not all of the boots fit onto the reed-resonators, so it seems that these are the mismatched remains of a larger set.
All reeds are brass. Seats of the reeds are made of lead, except in one of the "G" reeds, in which the seat is made of wood. All other parts are constructed of hammered tin.
The boots -- not the resonators -- have old location numbers inscribed on an oval paper glued on the pipe, and other old location numbers stamped in ink. From smallest to largest: 20-3-22, 20-4 (note A); 20-2-13, 20-2 (note G); 20-2-8, 20-1 (note C); 20-4-29, 20-2 (no note name); 20- [label broken off], [no legible ink stamp] (note A).
