FunctionThe Brücke magnifier has a comparatively small field of view, but a very much larger working distance than a simple magnifying lens. It has two lenses in sliding tubes and has variable magnification. It was introduced by Brücke in 1851 but had also been made by Chevalier some years earlier. It is classified as a Galilean compound microscope.
