Description:
This is a mineral molecular model made of shiny black and forest green plastic spheres, held together with brass rods. It is placed on a plywood base with a dark finish with a paper label affixed to it.

This model is of niccolite (NiAs), and the different colored atoms represent the following substances:

black: Nickel (Ni)

green: Arsenic (As)

Historical AttributesThis molecular model is part of a group in the Collection that were made by Harvard students for courses in geology and mineralogy between the early 1950s and the early 1970s. Some of the molecules were simple class assignments, whereas others are more complex and refer to recent publications. They remained in the Geology Department for display and instruction.
