FunctionArtistic photographic print for display
Curatorial RemarksAfter this photo was taken in British Columbia, Canada in 1982, it was first printed by the artist and photographer in Atlanta in 1984 (the year of his daughter's birth). The artist descibed it as "a Cibachrome print, printed in the kitchen at Briarcliff Place (artist's former residence)." The print was later moved and placed on display at the artist's Lakeshore Drive residence as part of a series of original prints. It remained on exhibit until 2010 when it was gifted to his daughter as a housewarming present.

The National Portrait Gallery in London describes Cibachrome prints as follows:
Cibachrome print
A high quality colour print made from a colour transparency enlarged directly onto reversal colour paper. The paper is unique in that dyes are incorporated into the emulsion on the paper instead of being formed chemically. This gives exceptional colour image brilliance. The paper is exposed to a transparency and the colours are recorded by complementary layers in the paper. A dye destruction print made in this way is more permanent than a chromogenic print.
