Description:
Metal lipstick tube holder made using paper mache over a patented metal container then hand painted and coated in a finish. The top half is sculpted from wood to represent an abstract female figure and is painted and finshed to match the rest of the object. String has been applied to further detail the figure form.

Historical AttributesThe armature of the case is a Revlon Futurama case
These cases were first produced in 1955 designed by famed jewelers Van Cleef and Arpels for Revlon.
Created in the style of paper mache artist Gemma Taccogna's lipstick container.
The inside of the case are the US patent numbers 2,565,346 and 2,609,092.
Curatorial RemarksParts are chipping off to reveal text from the paper used to paper mache.
Interior smells of lipstick, is stained, and has deposits from actually having lipstick in the container.
