FunctionLikely originally created to hold tea or incense, is usually given as a gift for special occassions.
Curatorial RemarksIn fair condition - no paint scratches or discoloration, small chip in the porcelain rim. Large breakage suture in body of jar - only visible from the inside. Jar was likely dropped and broken -- looks like it was super glued back together. There is also a small glue stain in the base of the jar. Benjarong, meaning five colours, dates back to the 18th century. It's a traditional handmade style of pottery and was made originally for the Thai royal family and aristocracy.
