Description:
A wooden case with glas windows with a balance inside consisting of a brass column resting on a black marble or glass slab, holding a brass beam conical pans at its ends. There is a horizontal rod coming from the right side of the balance holding a small pointer at its end that can be manipulated from outside the case.
There is a scale for a balance pointer at the bottom but the pointer itself is not installed in the picture (see accessories).
The case has a drawer below the balance with the weights and other accessories inside, and two other brass knobs above it. The box of weights is marked "Becker & Sons".

FunctionAn analytical balance with all the usual components plus a horizontal bar on top with a pointer at its end that helps manipulate a rider or sliding weight on the top edge of the balance. Was most likely used for educational and training purposes.
