Description:
Five-draw terrestrial refracting telescope of mahogany and brass. Aperture is approximately 1 7/8 inches. Fully extended the telescope is about 42 inches long. There are lightly engraved arrows on the largest two draw tubes, which were likely made by the instrument maker. There are deeply gouged lines on all the tubes and the cell of the objective. These were made by an owner for alignment purposes. The telescope has a dust cap.
The leather case is cylindrical with a cover that straps on to a buckle. The case has loops for attaching a strap or belt. The leather has been stamped to give it a pebble finish.
The small folding brass tripod (1989-4-0007b) attaches to the telescope with a split cylindrical collar lined with red velvet.
