The wooden light box contains 5 light bulbs (1 blue, 4 white). In front, a hinged window allows one to change the bulbs. On top is a glass window. A hinged lid has felt on the side it touches the glass. The lid has a handle on which are attached four brass extensions that act like springs. The lid can thus be forced shut, a hook at the end of the handle securing it in place. With a special type of photographic paper, this device was used to copy a photographic print without having recourse to a black room.
