Toward the right of the face of the slide chart is printed a table of decimal conversions. Near the center is a rectangular slot, a "FAHRENHEIT-CENTIGRADE CONVERSION SCALE". Printed above the slot is an arrow pointing down, labeled "°F". Printed below the slot is an arrow pointing up, labeled "°C". Two scales are printed on the part of the slide visible through the slot, one along each edge.
On the back of the slide chart are nine additional slots, for use in "METRIC TO ENGLISH / CONVERSIONS". These are divided into four sections, for, from top to bottom, "LENGTH", "AREA", "WEIGHT", AND "VOLUME". Through each slot two scales, printed on the slide, are visible. In the "LENGTH" section, the top left slot is labeled for converting "METERS" (left of slot) to "YARDS"; the top right slot for "CENTIMETERS" (left of slot) to "INCHES" (right of slot); and the bottom slot for "METERS" (left of slot) to "FEET" (right of slot).
The "AREA" section contains slots for converting, on left, "SQUARE / METERS" (left of slot) to "SQUARE / YARDS" (right of slot), and, on right, "SQUARE / CENTIMETERS" (left of slot) to "SQUARE / INCHES" (right of slot).
In the "WEIGHT" section, to top slot is labeled for converting "KILOGRAMS" (left of slot) to "POUNDS" (right of slot) ; the bottom slot for "METRIC / TONS" (left of slot) to "TONS" (right of slot).
The "VOLUME" section contains slots for converting, on left, "CUBIC / METERS" (left of slot) to "CUBIC / YARDS" (right of slot), and, on right, "LITERS" (left of slot) to "GALLONS" (right of slot).

FunctionFor converting metric to English units, and vice versa.
For temperature conversions, the user uses the front of the slide chart. For all other conversions he uses the back.
The user moves the slide such that the appropriate value on the nearest scale coincides with the indicating line or arrow for the unit from which he wishes to convert. In the same slot, the value on the farther scale coinciding with the opposite indicating line gives the converted value.
This slide chart was distributed by the Mid New York State Chapters Society of American Value Engineers and Standards Engineers Society as promotional material.
