Black coloring. Brass arm at right side of Ila to set angle for equinoctial dial. Two pewter scythe clasps on II. Blued-steel compass needle with gilded brass center. Double-lined border on outer edges of I and II. Glass is a replacement. Pewter clasp on left side of II to hold gnomon rod (missing).
la Double-lined border with typical Dieppe "pecked" ornamentation along edges and surrounding circular equinoctial dial labeled 1-12 twice, for use in spring and summer months. Central metal rivet with hole for pin gnomon.
lb Double-lined border with typical Dieppe "pecked" ornamentation along edges and surrounding type l French lunar volvelle. Ornate brass moveable volvelle labeled
1-30 (inner scale), 1-12 twice (middle), and 10-20--28, 30 or 31 for each month (outer scale) from]a1111ier through dece111bre, with circular hole through which the lunar phase is visible. Pink fabric beneath the volvelle. Latitude scale along right side from 0° to 80° to set angle for upper tablet.
Ila Horizontal dial with a single hour
scale for approximate latitude 45°, labeled 4--12-8 on a brass insert on top of compass bowl glass. Printed paper insert in compass bowl with a gridded gazeteer of the attri- butes of 18 French cities. Cardinal direc- tions labeled Septe11trio11, Orimt, l\!Iyd)\ and Occident. Pewter-brass alloy (?) elliptical magnetic azimuth dial hour scale labeled 5-12-7. Outer scale calibrated 0°-90° four times, starting with north and south. Double-lined border with typical Dieppe "pecked" ornamentation along edges and surrounding compass bowl.

surrounding volvelle. Pewter alloy volvelle with perpetual calendar square and calendar scale to set the magnetic azimuth elliptical hour scale inside. Inscribed "Jacques Guerard A Dieppe fecit" on volvelle.
