FunctionThis acetate based metal oxide tape was use to record sound using a tape deck like the one shown in RS0972a. The scotch 111 tape was introduced in 1948 (the same year the 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP record was introduced by Columbia Records).
The tape is stored on a 10 1/2 inch open reel with a larger center NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) hubs which were used on the bigger professional tape decks.
