Description:
A handwritten letter (photostat?) by CyrusW. Fields accompanying a 4" commemorative length of twisted wire telegraphic cable, a section of cable that was used iin 1848 to connect Europe with the United States.

The letter certifies the authenticity of the sections of cable being sold by Tiffany & Co.

The text of the letter reads, "New York, Aug. 21st. 1958 / This is to certify that I have / sold the balance of the Atlantic / Telegraph Cable now on board of / the U.S.S. 'Niagra' to / Mfrs Tiffany & Co Jewellers / So 550 Broadway of this / city and that the piece which accompanies this, is a genuine / section thereof / Cyrus W. Field"
