Description:
A thermometer consisting of a thin glass tube with a thin capillary filled with a transluscent, dark liquid (dyed alcohol). At one end of the tube is an elongated bulb acting as the reservoir of the liquid, while at the other end there is a small glass ring. There is a scale etched on the glass along the thin capillary calibrated from -45 to +40 degrees Celsius, with a 1 degree precision.

FunctionA thermometer with a wide range. Most likely for laboratory use, but with a range that would make it useful in meteorology.
Curatorial RemarksCase has tag which reads: "Lyman-Hall or Bridgman from Lyman Oct. 13 1963".
