View All Objects
Marc'Antonio Mazzoleni was an instrument maker who worked at the Arsenale in Venice. In 1597, he became Galileo's instrument maker, and in about 1598, Galileo installed him in his house, along with Mazzoleni's wife and child. His wife became Galileo's cook and housekeeper.

Mazzoleni's primary job was to manufacture Galileo's geometrical and military compass, a form of sector invented by Galileo in 1597. Galileo sold these sectors and instruction manuals to students who boarded at his house.

Mazzoleni worked for Galileo for 10 years.
