Dictograph Products Company
founded 1906
The company was founded around in 1906 (although some sources say 1902) as the General Acoustic Company, which produced Acousticon hearing aids, as well as microphones, surveillance "bugs" (the Detective Dictograph) and intercom systems with the brand name of "Dictograph." The success of the Dictograph brand led the company to change its name in 1920 to the Dictograph Products Company Inc. The company name changed again through various mergers after World War II.
Dictograph Products entered the radio market with speakers and headphones in 1922. A brand name in this market was Dictogrand.
