Browning-Drake Corporation
1926 - 1930
This company was founded by Professor Glenn H. Browning and Dr. Frederick H. Drake, who were radio researchers at Harvard's Cruft Laboratory. The pair had developed a substantial improvement in radio reception, the "Regenaformer," while researching at Harvard, and in about 1923 they started distributing kits to Regenaformer circuits in collaboration with the National Company. In 1926, Browning and Drake started manufacturing under their own name, and sold both kits and finished radios.
The business did not survive the Depression and manufacture stopped in 1930, although the corporation remained in existence. Browning set up his own company, Browning Laboratories, in 1937.
