The International Radio Corporation was ounded in Ann Arbor by Charles A. Verschoor and Mayor William E. Brown Jr. in 1929. The company manufactured a radio named "Kadette" which were compact, with plastic cases and the first radio that used tubes instead of a large transformer. The company sold the radio line to W. Keene Jackson who founded the Kadette Radio Corporation.
