Henry A. Rowland
Henry Augustus Rowland (November 27, 1848 – April 16, 1901) was an American physicist and the first chair of the physics department at Johns Hopkins University. "Rowland’s best known contribution is the diffraction grating that bears his name, but he also made important strides in magnetism and thermodynamics."
