fl. 1808 - 1820

View All Objects
Frederick Accum (1769-1838) was a German chemist who emigrated to London in 1793. He established his business on Compton St., in Soho, in 1800. He had been an assistant to Humphrey Davy at the Royal Institute. He later became chemist to the Gas, Light and Coke Company.
Accum formed a partnership with a former student of his, Alexander Garden. Dates are unsure, but roughly 1808 to 1820.

At some point, Peter Squire appears to have helped with the business.
