Charrette opened in Cambridge in 1964, it started as a small store for architects when Lionel Spiro, a graduate of the Harvard School of Design had trouble finding architectual materials. With Blair Brown he set to providing architects, commercial artists, and other designers with a convenience they had never had: a single source for all design supplies and equipment.
