The Edgerton, Germeshausen & Grier (EG&G) company was incorporated in 1947 and since World War II has been a major US government contractor. After working on the Manhattan project, the company supported efforts from the Atomic Energy Commission in weapons research and development. The technology that resulted from this association is at the foundation of the civil use of nuclear research.
