French Battery Company
1906 - 1934
This company was founded in 1906 by three people: James B. Ramsay, P. W. Strong and a Frenchman, Alfred Landau. The latter supposedly knew the recipe for dry cell batteries, so the company was named in deference to his national origins. The company's name was changed to Rayovac Co. in early 1934. It is now part of a large consortium called Spectrum Brands, originating from Rayovac.
