The Gilson Slide Rule Co. was founded in 1915 by Claire A. Gilson in Niles, Michigan. Gilson manufactured slide rules under its own name, and also for distribution by companies including Dietzgen, Post, and Tavella Sales Co. In 1927 the Gilson family and its business moved to Stuart, Florida. The company was sold to Daniel Fagan in 1960, and relocated to Newark, New Jersy. Fagan sold it around 1975.
