1873-1953

View All Objects
The International Meteorological Organization, or the International Meteorological Committee, was formed in Vienna 1873 with the intention of exchanging weather information internationally. The exchange enabled more accurate weather forecasting by the plotting of information on temperature, pressure, and precipitation across national boundaries.

The International Meterological Committee was replaced in 1953 by the United Nations' World Meteorological Organization.
