Hans Troschel I
1549 - 1612
Hans Troschel I was a Nuremberg sundial and compass maker who worked in ivory.
Hans Troschel the Elder used a thrush (small bird) on a twig as his maker's mark. This was a play on his name which in the local Franconian dialect was pronounced the same as Drossel, which means "thrush" in German.
His son, Hans Troschel the Younger used a six-pointed star as his maker's mark.
